Our several month long relationship with Amada in Jackson, MS, was exceptional. The people, from ownership to caregiver, provided an incredible quality of services. They were thoughtful, kind, thorough, professional, compassionate, and treated us like family. Amada was always flexible and willing to adjust schedules and caregivers based on our unique needs. As the needs increased, Amada was there to provide more service, provided incredible advise, increased hours as needed, and sent additional caregivers when asked to in order to make our Mom comfortable at home. Programs to Assist Veterans

 
 

When veterans or their spouses require senior care, it is important that they understand the types of governement assistance available to them. One program that has been especially helpful to Amada Jackson clients is the VA Aid and Attendance benefits program, specifically designed to help wartime veterans and their surviving spouses pay for help with activities of daily living (ADLs). The Facts on Aid and Attendance Eligibility:

1. Military Service
  • To be eligible for this program, applicant must have served at least 90 days’ active duty, with at least one day served during a period of war, or be the surviving spouse of such a veteran.
  • Dishonorable discharge prevents eligibility.
2. Personal Care Needs
  • Qualified applicants must require assistance with ADLs from another person.
  • These activities may include (but are not limited to) walking, bathing, eating, and food preparation.
3. Income
  • Qualified applicants must spend the majority of their income on care or assistance with ADLs.
  • Benefits depend on the amount of income spent on care, up to a national maximum amount.
4. Assets
  • Applicants’ assets must not exceed a maximum established by the VA.
  • Applicant age and financial need are key factors in the determination of this asset threshold.

  • Never required to be repaid as long as claimant remains eligible.
