Alan and Lisa Waters, owners of Amada Senior Care Marietta, are passionate about providing superior care to make the lives of clients safer and happier. Alan had experiences with in-home care for his own family when he was young, and now that he is older he is happy to “pay it forward” by coordinating personalized and compassionate care for seniors in Marietta, Kennesaw, Acworth, Smyrna, Roswell, Alpharetta, Atlanta, Woodstock, Canton, Cartersville, Douglasville, Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Stockbridge and other communities.

Alan says, “I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and my grandmother lived in Charleston, South Carolina. As her abilities began to be limited by her age, my father and his brother were concerned that our distance would make it unsafe for her to continue to live in her home. Fortunately, they found a special home-care aide and Grandma was able to live out her days in comfort at home. I was young at the time, but now I see the value of what that meant to my dad and his brother—to know their mother was cared for and maintained her dignity. This is why Lisa and I are so proud to work with Amada Senior Care.”

Excellent Caretaker - Thania

I had the unique opportunity and blessing to have Thania as a and friend and caregiver for my mother, while she was battling bladder cancer. When families come to us to discuss senior living options, the first step is to determine the level of care a client will need. Assisted living communities are perfect for people who are still fairly independent or only need assistance with basic activities of daily living. Residents of communities like this are able to simplify their lives and reduce their responsibilities while getting the support they need and enjoying more free time with peers and family. Nursing homes or skilled nursing facilities are a better option for seniors who need more complex medical services, but they can still provide an enjoyable social environment.

Since the team at Amada Marietta has worked with the majority of the senior communities in this area and throughout Georgia, we have unique insights into the benefits of each facility. BeClose consists of a range of products and devices that help seniors live safely at home and update their loved ones on how they’re doing. Families can choose from solutions such as security cameras, medication monitors, automated door locks, and even monitors and alerts for potential emergencies like falls, fires, or intruders. Each device in the BeClose line has been designed to blend with a senior’s home environment so as not to feel intrusive and to be easy to use.

Programs to Assist Veterans

 
 

At Amada Senior Care Marietta, many of our clients are veterans who often struggle with the cost of care. We are fortunate that our experience has given use in-depth knowledge of programs specifically to help veterans and their loved ones afford care, such as the VA Aid and Attendance benefits. Aid and Attendance is paid in addition to retirement pay and can be a significant increase in the incomes of wartime veterans and their surviving spouses who require assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). The Facts on Aid and Attendance Eligibility:

1. Military Service
  • To receive Aid and Attendance benefits, a veteran must have served a minimum of one day during a period of war and a total of 90 days’ active duty. 
  • Eligibility is denied to veterans who have a dishonorable discharge.
2. Personal Care Needs
  • There must be a current need for assistance with ADLs from another person.
  • Daily living activities may include walking, bathing, eating, or others.
3. Income
  • The majority of the applicant’s income must be spent on care.
  • Up to a maximum amount, benefits are awarded according to the percentage of income spent on care.
4. Assets
  • Applicant’s assets must be below an amount established by the VA.
  • Age and financial need are key factors in the determination of this limit.

For so many of our clients, Aid and Attendance benefits helps them access more in-home care or move to the community of their choice. These benefits are:

  • Paid directly to the claimant every month by the United States Treasury (like Social Security).
  • Tax-Free.
