Amada Senior Care Portland
Every day, Mara Carter reaffirms her goal as the operator of Amada Senior Care Portland to provide the highest quality of care and companionship to each of the clients we serve. To Mara, this is much more than a job: it is a personal mission based on her firm belief that all seniors deserve to live safe and dignified lives they truly enjoy. As Mara says, “I believe every community is only as strong as its elders. My work with Amada Portland is the best way I have found to show my respect and gratitude for older generations, and my team and I are honored to enrich their lives any way we can.” In addition to Portland, we also serve seniors in Beaverton, Oak Hills, Cedar Mill, Metzger, Rockcreek, Lake Oswego, West Lynn, Happy Valley, Tualatin, and other nearby communities.
At Amada Senior Care Portland, take the time to get to know each of our clients and their loved ones on a personal level so that we can understand their unique needs and desires. This enables us to surpass their expectations of in-home care and form trusting relationships that last a lifetime. We realize that the transition from independence to being cared for can be difficult for many seniors, and that we can only provide them with the help they need when they feel comfortable enough to allow us into their lives.
To us, in-home care is so much more than helping with common activities of daily living like cooking and cleaning. It’s also about companionship and bringing smiles to our clients’ faces every day.

Senior Housing Advising
When it begins to become apparent that Dad, Grandma, or another aging loved one needs more support than he or she can get living at home, families are faced with the complex and emotional decision of finding them a new environment that is both safe and comfortable.
There are various options when it comes to senior housing, such as senior communities or assisted living facilities that provide a level of supported independence or nursing homes where a senior will have access to more complex medical services.
For our senior clients and their families, the process of choosing and transitioning into a new living environment can be overwhelming. Fortunately, the senior housing experts at Amada Portland have been guiding families on this journey for many years. Not only do we have deep knowledge of each of the care communities in the Portland area, but we also understand our clients’ unique needs so that we can help them find the ideal placement for their preferences, care requirements, lifestyles, and budgets.
Another benefit of working with the senior housing team at Amada Portland is that we have extensive experience with veterans’ benefits, long-term care insurance policies, and other tools that may make senior care more affordable than our clients expect. We also offer our housing placement and advising services free of charge, because it is important to us that no senior misses out on care due to budget concerns.
With such a range of senior living options in the Portland area and the expert guidance of an advocate from Amada Senior Care, our clients can feel confident that they have chosen the best place. We have relationships with the following types of care communities:

Home Care Technology
By making use of the latest technology, Amada Senior Care has developed a way for seniors to live independently while their loved ones are assured of their safety.
With BeClose by Amada, our clients can choose from an array of products and devices designed to keep seniors safe while preserving their independence. Options like bed and fall alerts, medication monitors, indoor and outdoor security cameras, and even automated thermostats make it possible for families to feel confident in their seniors’ safety and comfort at home. As data are gathered, selected family members receive real-time updates through a simple-to-use mobile app. We also provide detailed reports of activity trends, which families can use to determine whether a client’s need for care has increased.
To many of our clients’ loved ones, the idea of a senior in their life using advanced technology is difficult to imagine. However, we have brought our deep knowledge of our aging clients’ needs and abilities to unique partnerships leading technological developers to create the industry-first BeClose home monitoring system. Each of our BeClose solutions is cutting edge, but not obtrusive and very easy to use for our clients and their loved ones.
When a person you love needs support and protection, you simply want to be close to them. Now, with BeClose by Amada Senior Care, you can—whether you are in the next room or thousands of miles away. Support for Veterans
The team at Amada Senior Care Portland has the honor of caring for many veterans and spouses of veterans who have made sacrifices for our country. Did you know that there are special benefits available through the VA to help wartime veterans and spouses cover the costs of care? The VA Aid and Attendance benefits program was specifically designed to provide financial support to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities. To learn more about VA benefits and eligibility, click here for a free consultation.
How is Eligibility for VA Aid and Attendance Benefits Determined?
- Veteran or veteran spouse served a minimum of 90 days’ active duty, at least one day of which was during a period of war.
- Must not have been dishonorably discharged.
- Applicant must show a current need for assistance from another person for activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, grooming, eating, meal preparation, walking, or others.
- The majority of the applicant’s income must be spent on care.
- The amount of benefits received, up to the maximum, is determined by the percentage of their income the applicant spends on care.
- The applicant’s assets must be below a threshold established by the VA.
- The applicant’s age and financial need are key factors in the determination of this asset limit.
VA Aid and Attendance benefits are one of the many ways our government honors our veterans and their surviving spouses. These benefits can significantly ease financial burdens and may make it possible for claimants to afford more in-home care or to live in the senior community of their choice. A few key facts on Aid and Attendance:
- Benefits are paid monthly.
- Benefits never need to be paid back as long as eligibility is maintained.
- The United States Treasury pays these benefits directly to claimants, just like Social Security.
- VA Aid and Attendance benefits are tax-free.
