Amada Senior Care Santa Clarita
Tony and Theresa Yoder, owners of Amada Senior Care Santa Clarita, have both pursued careers dedicated to serving others: Tony as a Navy pilot, and Theresa as a registered nurse. Now that they operate Amada Santa Clarita, they see this as a way to serve their neighbors in a more personalized manner, and are proud to provide superior senior care in Simi Valley, the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, Glendale, and other nearby communities.
Theresa says, “I always enjoyed serving my community, and working as a registered nurse has allowed me to honor my passion for caring for people. Throughout my nursing career, I have found caring for seniors to be the most enjoyable and rewarding aspect of my job. Now, I bring that passion to my work with Amada, where I am able to care for seniors as well as for their loved ones by offering the support and guidance throughout what is often a very challenging time in their lives.”
For Tony Yoder, his desire to serve others became more focused on senior care as a result of personal experiences. Tony says, “My grandmother is 93 years old, and she needs help. My grandfather has passed away, and our family initially struggled as we looked for the best care for her. Fortunately, we were able to bring a caregiver into her home and create the right living situation for my grandmother. This really gave us peace of mind, and now I feel like we can really give back to the community by providing that same peace of mind for our neighbors and their loved ones.”
Each member of our Amada Santa Clarita team is dedicated to doing everything we can to ensure our senior clients are not only safe and comfortable, but thriving. For our home-care aides, this requires going beyond caregiver duties such as cooking and housekeeping to enrich our clients’ lives and make every day feel special. If living at home ceases to be the best option for a senior, we’ll work with that client and his or her loved one to find the ideal senior housing solution for them. And when our clients express worries about the costs of senior care, we help them take advantage of resources and benefits that make it possible for them to afford the quality care they deserve.
Tony and Theresa have five children together, so it’s not surprising that they have a family-first approach to senior care. At Amada Santa Clarita, our goal is to provide comprehensive senior care and support to our senior clients as well as to their loved ones. We understand that this is often a difficult time for all members of a family, and we encourage you to rely on us to nurture, support, and guide you as you navigate senior care.
As Tony says, “We truly want what is best for your family as well as for your senior loved one. We’ll help you make the absolute best decision for your unique situation.”

Senior Housing Advising
At Amada Senior Care Santa Clarita, it is our goal to guide our clients and their families to the very best senior care solution for their unique needs. Therefore, when it becomes clear that a senior client is no longer thriving at home, we work with that senior and his or her family to find the best senior housing option for them.
Many of the seniors we work with are initially hesitant to even consider the transition to senior housing because they envision the “old folk’s home” typically depicted on television and in movies. This could not be a bigger misconception! We have worked with most of the senior communities in the Santa Clarita and Simi Valley area, and can assure you that life in these homes is vibrant, social, and very satisfying.
That said, it is very important that we find the right senior housing option for each client’s particular situation, and the first factor we evaluate is their care needs. Seniors who are able to live relatively independent and active lives are likely to be happiest in an assisted living community, while seniors who require more help with ADLs and medical attention will probably be more comfortable in a nursing home or skilled nursing setting.
Once we have decided what type of senior housing will best meet a client’s care needs, we then consider factors that will impact his or her happiness and quality of life. For example, would Grandma prefer to live near the water, or is her preferred setting more rural? What kinds of activities does Dad enjoy, and how does he like to socialize? Is there a particular location that will work best for the family? Because we have worked with so many of the senior housing communities in this area, we are very well qualified to guide seniors to the new home that will be most satisfying to them.
Of course, many families have concerns about paying for senior housing, and we understand this. Fortunately for our clients, we at Amada are experts at helping families find the best ways to pay for senior care. We can help you explore non-traditional payment options like long-term care insurance, veterans’ benefits, and even life insurance so that you will feel confident you can afford the very best care.
At Amada Santa Clarita, we are committed to guiding each family through finding and transitioning to the senior housing environment that’s best for them. We provide referrals to every type of senior and care community, including:
- Assisted living communities
- Large and small communities
- Independent living communities
- Board and care homes
- Adult family homes
- Senior care homes
- Skilled nursing facilities
- Alzheimer/dementia communities
“BeClose” through Home Care Technology
At Amada, we specialize in finding the senior care solution that is just right for each family we work with. In some cases, this may involve an option families hadn’t previously considered or weren’t even aware of. One such option is our BeClose home monitoring system, which allows to remotely care for and watch over senior loved ones who wish to live at home.
We developed BeClose by working with the leading developers of home monitoring products to customize each device in the BeClose line specifically for use in senior care. Clients can choose from a range of products, including automated door locks, medication monitors, button-free fall and emergency alarms, and indoor/outdoor security cameras—paying only for the devices that they need. An Amada technician will install these devices in a senior’s home and make sure they are functioning properly, then sync the entire system to a secure mobile app. Through this app, families can see real-time updates on a senior’s activities and well-being from anywhere in the world and at any time. BeClose will also notify families of changes in a senior’s behavior or routines that may be a sign that more care is needed.
If you have a senior loved one who is set on living independently at home, BeClose can help you and your family feel confident he or she is safe and comfortable. To learn more, please Click Here for a Free Consultation with a Member of the Amada Team.
Veterans Assistance Programs
Amada Santa Clarita owner Tony Yoder is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, so he and his wife Theresa understand why it can be difficult for veterans to afford high-quality senior care. As a result, they have become experts at helping veterans take advantage of government and VA programs and benefits designed to make senior care costs more manageable. One such program is the VA Aid and Attendance benefit, which awards monthly financial support to wartime veterans and their surviving spouses to pay for help with ADLs. If you or your senior loved one is a veteran, are you confident that you have made use of all government benefits designed to help you pay for senior care? For more information on this and other senior care benefits for veterans, please Click here for a Free Veteran’s Care Needs Consultation.
Who is Eligible for Aid and Attendance Benefits?
- Aid and Attendance is for wartime veterans, so to qualify for this benefit a veteran must have served at least one day during wartime and a total of 90 days’ active duty overall.
- Veterans with a dishonorable discharge do not qualify for this benefit.
- Eligible applicants must currently need help with ADLs from another person.
- ADLs (activities of daily living) may include meal preparation, mobility and ambulation, bathing, and more.
- Claimants of this benefit must currently spend most of their income on care.
- Benefits are awarded relative to the percentage of income spent on care, up to a set maximum.
- Eligible applicants’ assets must be below a limit set by the VA.
- Key factors in the determination of this limit include age and financial need.
At Amada Senior Care Santa Clarita, we have helped many veterans gain significant financial flexibility through VA benefits like Aid and Attendance. These benefits are:
- Paid in addition to military pensions.
- Paid monthly by the U.S. Treasury.
- Tax free.
- Never required to be paid back as long as claimant remains eligible.
