Tony and Theresa Yoder,
owners of Amada Senior Care Santa Clarita, have both pursued careers dedicated to serving others: Tony as a Navy pilot, and Theresa as a registered nurse. Now that they operate Amada Santa Clarita, they see this as a way to serve their neighbors in a more personalized manner, and are proud to provide superior senior care in Simi Valley, the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, Glendale, and other nearby communities.

Theresa says, “I always enjoyed serving my community, and working as a registered nurse has allowed me to honor my passion for caring for people. Throughout my nursing career, I have found caring for seniors to be the most enjoyable and rewarding aspect of my job. Now, I bring that passion to my work with Amada, where I am able to care for seniors as well as for their loved ones by offering the support and guidance throughout what is often a very challenging time in their lives.”

For Tony Yoder, his desire to serve others became more focused on senior care as a result of personal experiences. Tony says, “My grandmother is 93 years old, and she needs help. My grandfather has passed away, and our family initially struggled as we looked for the best care for her. Fortunately, we were able to bring a caregiver into her home and create the right living situation for my grandmother. This really gave us peace of mind, and now I feel like we can really give back to the community by providing that same peace of mind for our neighbors and their loved ones.”

Who is Eligible for Aid and Attendance Benefits?

1. Military Service
  • Aid and Attendance is for wartime veterans, so to qualify for this benefit a veteran must have served at least one day during wartime and a total of 90 days’ active duty overall.
  • Veterans with a dishonorable discharge do not qualify for this benefit.
2. Personal Care Needs
  • Eligible applicants must currently need help with ADLs from another person.
  • ADLs (activities of daily living) may include meal preparation, mobility and ambulation, bathing, and more.
3. Income
  • Claimants of this benefit must currently spend most of their income on care.
  • Benefits are awarded relative to the percentage of income spent on care, up to a set maximum.
4. Assets
  • Eligible applicants’ assets must be below a limit set by the VA.
  • Key factors in the determination of this limit include age and financial need.
