Veterans Assistance Programs


At Amada Senior Care Tucson, we are experts at helping our clients and their families take advantage of all resources available to help them afford the best care. When a client is a wartime veteran or the surviving spouse of a wartime veteran, we are often able to guide them to significant financial assistance through the VA Aid and Attendance benefits program, which helps pay for assistance with ADLs. How is Aid and Attendance Eligibility Determined?

1. Military Service
  • Aid and Attendance benefits are for veterans who served at least 90 days’ active duty, with at least one day served during wartime.
  • Veterans with dishonorable discharge do not qualify for this program.
2. Personal Care Needs
  • Claimants must currently need help from another person to complete activities of daily living.
  • These ADLs may include meal preparation, eating, medication reminders, bathing, and more.
3. Income
  • Qualified applicants currently spend most of their income on care.
  • Benefits are awarded in relation to the percentage of income spent on care, up to a set maximum.
4. Assets
  • Claimants’ assets must not exceed an upper limit set by the VA.
  • Age and financial need are key factors in the determination of this limit.
