Meet the Team at Amada Senior Care of Birmingham
Len Everts | Owner
Amada owner Len Everts is thrilled to call Birmingham home. He is enamored with the people, food and culture and can be found frequently at Waffle House, proudly sporting Alabama gear and egging on his server. Len handles all billing and loves being out in the community. The real boss in the office is Mia, a 10-pound Havapoo who regularly oversees the work of her hooman as she sits on his lap. Len is passionate about helping seniors age with dignity and providing a rewarding work environment for caregivers and staff. Len’s experiences as an Army veteran and business owner, and as a child of aging family members, fuels his commitment to providing exceptional senior care every day.
Len frequently reflects on Mahatma Gandhi’s quote: “The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.”
Connie Williams | Community Outreach Manager
Whether you meet her at a health talk or in your home for an assessment, you’ll quickly realize that Connie Williams is the perfect Community Outreach Manager. With her hospital and medical background across internal medicine, urgent care, cardiology, and pulmonology, Connie understands the challenges that patients, families, case managers, and discharge planners face every day. She honed her knack for transforming complex situations into “emotionally right decisions” as a leader for a commercial realty firm. Connie credits her Grammie for instilling in her a lifelong passion for Caregiving. Ultimately, she chose to leave the corporate world and served as full-time Caregiver for a dear family friend in Florida before relocating to Alabama and joining Amada!
When you meet Connie, you will immediately feel assured by her natural ability to put others at ease while sharing her wealth of expertise.
Connie moved to Alabama to marry her now husband, Rick, and raise their blended family of 4 children together in the Helena community. She loves cooking, being in nature, Dunkin Donuts iced coffee and dancing in her kitchen to favorite jams. She and her husband have been known to instigate water gun battles to the chagrin and delight of their teenagers.
Her favorite quote still comes from her biggest inspiration, her Grammie!
“Do like you’ve always done, but make sure to do whatever you can so that person next to you is ok too.” – Ardeth Cobble, aka “Grammie”
Laura Lee Rose | Office Manager
Laura Lee Rose brings a truly compassionate heart and a lifetime of leadership to her role as Amada Birmingham’s Office Manager. Prior to Amada, she and her husband led 1000+ person congregation in Atlanta area through spiritual and very real-life journeys. She has also led several medical and business offices, always using her incredible intuition to really listen and support those around her.
An avid chef and practitioner of self-care, Laura Lee can be found exploring Birmingham’s restaurant scene, whipping up deliciousness, and spending quality time with her beloved husband and family. In addition to Destin and many other places, Laura Lee finds great solace in one of her favorite quotations, “When it rains look for rainbows, when its dark look for stars.”
Shuntel Talton | Client Care Manager
Just ask Shuntel Talton if she has ever met a person she didn’t find fascinating or a puzzle she didn’t love trying to solve. The answer is probably no! As Amada’s Client Care Manager, Shuntel has found fertile ground for her love of people and wealth of psychology knowledge — she is building a team!
Caregiving also runs deep in Shuntel’s soul. A beloved wife and mother of four, Shuntel didn’t stop there. She personally takes care of her elderly uncle and father so knows what clients, families, and caregivers experience firsthand.
Be careful to give Shuntel a challenge after all, she lives by “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb, go through it, or work around it!”
Tamaya Baxter | Caregiving Coordinator
Tamaya Baxter is a true powerhouse and brings her years of caregiving and business experience to her new role as Amada Birmingham’s Scheduler. Tamaya is transitioning to a staff role from being an Amada caregiver as well as working at Birmingham’s renowned Children’s Hospital. Although her clients are quite devastated to lose Tamaya’s weekly presence in their home, they share that they are so excited for her to share her wisdom with a wider audience and take the next step in her professional journey.
And what a journey it has already been! Tamaya is finishing up her Bachelor of Science in Biology (saying “I find it fascinating”) and has a track record in business development (establishing accounting systems to brand management). Tamaya knows firsthand the caregiver and client experience and could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to put her insights into action!
As Tamaya has learned and adopted from Maya Angelou: “Without courage we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous or honest.”
Holly Garren, RN | Nurse
As Holly Garren tells us pretty much every day, she loves her job as Amada’s Fulltime Nurse, and it shows! Holly brings decades of nursing experience and a passion for serving Seniors. In addition to years of supporting hospice patients, Holly also channeled her boundless energy into setting up and running a family trucking company. Having left her trucking company in the capable hands of her eldest sons, she is thrilled to be part of the Amada team. Holly primary works with Amada’s Veteran Clients and their families to ensure seamless coordination with the VA.
With her large family of grown children, grandchildren, and animals, you might think Holly and her husband’s hands would be full. But they find other ways to literally fill them (and their freezer) as expert markspeople. Nothing lights Holly’s face up more than caring for Birmingham Seniors and sharing pictures of her hunting escapades. Be careful what you ask for – she’s been known to share her delicious deer meat!
As Holly says, “working with geriatrics is a truly work of the heart” and “that’s the way I absolutely feels!”
