Our family would like to extend our gratitude for the care that was provided to our mom recently during hospice care at home. Brenda and Kevin(owners) were there for us from the beginning as they were able to provide us assistance the same day we brought our mom home. Brends came out on a Sunday to help us get prepared for mom coming home along with being able to get with Darla and her team to arrange for the scheduling we needed for the 24 hour care for mom. How is Aid and Attendance Eligibility Determined?
1. Military Service
- At least 90 days of active duty, and at least one of those 90 days occurred during wartime.
- No dishonorable discharge.
2. Personal Care Needs
- Must currently need assistance with activities of daily living, such as toileting, dressing, eating, bathing, etc.
3. Income
- The majority of the applicant’s income must currently be spent on care expenses.
- The percentage of income currently spent on care determines the amount and type of benefits they receive.
4. Assets
- The VA determines on a case by case basis the acceptable threshold for applicants’ assets.
- Determination of financial assets will depend upon the applicant’s age and financial need.
