Amada Senior Care Knoxville
As the owners of Amada Senior Care Knoxville, Jeff and Kristi Pell understand that top-quality, compassionate care by a trained caregiver makes a difference in helping to preserve the loving relationships between family members. Says Jeff, “After graduating from college at the University of Tennessee and serving nine years in the U.S. Navy, I moved back home. One of the most influential people in my life was my grandmother. Everyone in my family simply called her ‘Nanny.’ My mother kept Nanny in the home and cared for her for many years after she developed emphysema. At the time there were very few senior in-home care options in our community. I saw the hardship it sometimes put on my mother, who was working full time while still trying to care for my grandmother in the home.”
With a PhD in adult education, Kristi has worked as an advocate for people with disabilities, and as a special education teacher and administrator. Says Kristi, “When both my grandparents were ill and needed around-the-clock care, I watched my mom do her best to care for each of them. I saw the strain that this put on her relationship with her dad, as she had to play the role of both caregiver and daughter. We wish to provide families the resources they need to provide a high level of caregiving to their senior loved ones. This way a daughter or son can concentrate on preserving their personal relationship with their mother or father or other loved one without having to bear the added mental and physical stress that might come from feeling overwhelmed with care tasks.”

Amada Senior Care has inspired me to be the best caregiver I can be. This company and their clients don't make it feel like a job but more like hanging out and helping your family. In- home care is an amazing option for those in need of help that still want to stay in their home. Jeff and Kristi strive to find the perfect match of caregiver to client. My client Tom and his family that they matched me with was a perfect match and they became my family. Recently I was promoted into the office where I can help enrich the lives of more people in need.
Recently Amada really came through for me. Although I wasn't looking for in-home services for a relative, but rather an assisted living facility, Jeff went above and beyond helping us sort out and understand the long-term health insurance that was available and how to get started. Needless to say, we would have been at a loss without his help! This is a company that I would definitely recommend!!!
Last August I was at my wit's end. I had torn my rotator cuff and had very limited use of my arm. I have been the one who handles any needs my mother has that she cannot take care of herself. Unfortunately, she fell and badly dislocated her ulna. She was unable to use her arm, and therefore unable to take care of herself, and because of my shoulder, I was unable to take care of her. She did have long term care insurance with Bankers Life, so I called them, and my agent connected me with Jeff. Jeff came over and talked to us, and immediately set up care for my mom. He dealt with all the insurance issues for me, and made everything completely simple. I don't know what I would have done without Amada! They have been caring for my mom now for 3 months, and I am totally satisfied with everything they have done for her. The caregivers are great, and Jeff has gone above and beyond in helping me deal with the insurance side of this. He is always available any time I have a question or concern. I wholeheartedly recommend Amada to anyone who needs a caregiver!
Senior Housing Advising
At Amada Senior Care Knoxville, we realize that in-home care may not be enough to meet the needs of some seniors and that our clients may one day need to consider transitioning to an environment where they can get a little more support.
We also realize that the prospect of moving to an assisted living or senior care community may be intimidating to our clients and their loved ones on a number of levels.
The transition to a care community may be new to you, but we have years of experience helping seniors find the ideal living situations to meet their needs in the Greater Knoxville area, including neighborhoods in Anderson, Blount, Knox, Loudon, Roane, Cocke, Union counties and beyond. We encourage our clients to rely on our in-depth knowledge so they can feel confident that they have found the right place for their lifestyles.
When considering a care community or assisted living, it is crucial that we honestly evaluate the unique needs and preferences of each client. Some seniors may do best in a nursing home where more complex medical care is available, while others may benefit most from an assisted living community where they can live more independently and still get help with ADLs (activities of daily living).
Many seniors and their families hesitate to consider transitioning to a care community because they are worried about costs. At Amada Senior Care Knoxville, we never want financial concerns to prevent our clients from enjoying safe and happy lives. We always provide our placement services for no cost, and our advisers can help families take full advantage of resources like long-term care insurance and veterans’ programs to help them fit superior care into their budgets. We love serving others, and do what is right for our clients regardless of the bottom line.
Our goal is to ensure that each of our clients is safe and happy, whether this is accomplished through in-home care or referral to the most suitable place for this stage of their lives, which may include
- Assisted living communities
- Large and small communities
- Independent living communities
- Board and care homes
- Adult family homes
- Senior care homes
- Skilled nursing facilities
- Alzheimer/dementia communities

Veterans Assistance Programs
A large number of our clients in the Knoxville metropolitan statistical area (including parts of Anderson, Blount, Knox, Loudon, Greene, Hamblen and other counties) have served our nation as veterans or as the spouses of veterans. Yet many of them don’t realize that they may be entitled to significant financial assistance through the VA Aid and Attendance program. Aid and Attendance is specifically for wartime veterans and their surviving spouses who require assistance with activities of daily living. The veterans’ advocates at Amada can help you or your loved one take full advantage of this program and other resources so that the best care is within your reach.
Factors Determining Aid and Eligibility Eligibility:
- To qualify for these VA benefits, a veteran or veteran spouse must have served at least one day during wartime and at least 90 days total active duty.
- Veterans with a dishonorable discharge are excluded.
- Eligible applicants must require assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) from another person.
- ADLs may include finance management, bathing, walking, hygiene, and others.
- Eligible applicants must spend most of their current income on care and assistance with ADLs.
- The amount of financial assistance granted depends on the applicant’s care requirements and income.
- The applicant’s assets must not exceed an amount determined by the VA.
- This threshold is determined by the applicant’s age and financial need.
Through VA Aid and Attendance benefits, seniors have increased financial flexibility regarding their care plans and potential assisted living placement. Aid and Attendance is:
- Paid monthly and no repayment is necessary.
- Paid directly to claimants by the United States Treasury.
