Amada Senior Care in Springfield
Barbie Kolb, Christopher Kerr and Timothy Swearengin, owners of Amada Senior Care Springfield, are passionate about enriching the lives of seniors by providing them with personalized, in-home senior care along with guidance as they navigate the unfamiliar territory of senior care.
“My passion in caring for seniors began with my sweet grandma. After experiencing a fall, she was no longer able to be independent. It was a stressful time as we made decisions for her care with little experience or guidance.
Through that situation, I realized the value of having someone walk through the difficult times with families. Having an experienced caregiver to advocate and care for grandma in our absence was a blessing.
It is my great honor being called to help families navigate this unfamiliar territory and provide the best care possible for their loved one.”
Barbie, Tim and Chris share a passion for advocating for seniors. Each one went through senior care experiences in their own families, and those experiences reaffirmed their commitment to providing the highest quality of in-home senior care, as well as peace of mind for their families. Amada Springfield’s trained caregivers provide compassionate care for seniors living in Aurora, Bolivar, Branson, Marshfield, Monett, Mt. Vernon, Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Rogersville, Springfield, Willard, and beyond.
“As a physician for more than 20 years, I am a daily witness to the disruption that disability and disease has on patients and their families,” says Chris, an Anesthesiologist. “I do my best to offer comfort and reassurance to patients as they face an uncertain diagnosis, frightening prognosis or a prolonged recovery after surgery. Outside the walls of the healthcare system, there is a tremendous need for home care agencies to help our seniors here in Southwest Missouri.
“Caring for the most vulnerable in their time of need has been a true calling and privilege,” Chris adds. “Amada Springfield allows me the honor to continue offering comfort and reassurance to vulnerable seniors in a safe and familiar environment, their own homes.”
Chris, Barbie and Tim are committed to treating seniors with the same respect and compassion as they do their own families, because they are part of the Amada family.
Says Tim: “I, like most, have witnessed the struggle of those who require long-term care assistance. In my own family, due to accidents, Alzheimer’s, or simply advanced age, those closest to me are living with this struggle—uncertain of what services are available, what they can afford, and who to turn to during this vulnerable time, they do what they can.
“I chose a career in medicine, because I wanted to care for and comfort people through the most vulnerable and frightening experiences of their lives,” Tim notes. “What I’ve come to realize is the tremendous need for that same care after these events. Amada is my opportunity and privilege to provide continued compassion for the rest of their lives.”
Caring Companions In-Home Senior Care
Amada Springfield in-home senior care aides do whatever they can to help seniors feel more comfortable and independent in their own homes; while helping out with things like light housekeeping, meal preparation and medication reminders, and other of the many activities of daily living our home care providers do part-time or full-time, their passion is to provide compassionate companionship. This means that in addition to helping with activities of daily living, Amada Springfield’s trained caregivers seek out meaningful ways to enrich clients’ lives on a daily basis. The expert care team at Amada Springfield also are ready, willing and able to lend a helping hand to address the special needs of families in need of respite care, adults with disabilities who could benefit from support at home and those managing the progressive symptoms of ALS and other neurological disorders, helping to provide the best quality of life possible.

Amada is simply amazing and life changing. There are other companies in Springfield offering similar services, many that I’ve used, and Amada is on a whole other level when it comes to compassionate care, professionalism and consistency of care. There is no comparison.
Barbie came to see us and evaluate our needs the same day we called. We were anxious, confused and not sure how we were going to care for our mom in her home, or how to even navigate the decision process. Barbie began by trying to make my mom comfortable with the visit, and then began to ask all of us questions so that she and her caregivers would be able to give the best care possible.
Barbie and her staff start by hiring only people with a passion for this kind of work, and who are also compassionate and caring. Then they dedicate themselves to finding just the right person for your loved on and work until they find just the right match. I witnessed them move people around until the caregivers in my mom’s home 24/7 were people she was most comfortable with. As a result, Lynette and Marlene were my mom’s primary caregivers for a year and a half. They became part of our family.
When end-of-life came for my mom, they were all there 24 hours a day, assisting the hospice care-givers and providing support for all of us, mom’s family.
Not only did Amada change my mom’s life, but also ours, her family’s. Our mom got the safe, loving care she didn’t know she needed and we received relief and peace of mind knowing she was in the BEST hands. We are forever thankful for Amada and the life-saving service they provide. And mostly, we’re thankful for the people there and the unconditional love and care they showed my mom as she dealt with the difficulties and progression of her disease.
We needed short term overnight care for my father in law and Barbie was right on top of it! She came to meet with us the day I contacted her and was able to get care in his home the following night. Barbie was very good to work with and wanted us to be happy with the caregivers placed in his home. She was flexible and came to introduce the caregiver the first night she came to the home. The caregivers, Melissa and Maggie, were so kind and respectful and were willing to help in any way needed. I would highly recommend Amada to anyone seeking home health care!
Thank you for your love and support during that tough time.
Loved every person we came in contact at Amada. Everyone was like family the minute they stepped in the door. We only had care a couple of days and staff was with us when my mom died. They were so helpful, supportive, caring and loving to my dad and I and to my mom. Will definitely use this family owned, Christian-based company in the future if the need arises. Thank you for your love and support during that tough time.
This is an emotional decision for everyone involved, and our goal at Amada Senior Care in Springfield is to guide families through the placement process with wisdom, empathy and competence.
For some seniors, an assisted living community, typically offering non-complex medical services, may be a good fit. Others may require a bit more support and may be better served in a nursing home or different type of care community.

We also rely on our extensive experience to help our clients make full use of all benefits available to them, including veterans’ benefits and Long-Term Care Insurance benefits. The costs of assisted living may intimidate many families, but we can help them make financial decisions with confidence.
